Revell Review-The Christmas Cat By Melody Carlson

Good evening everyone!! I have received some pretty amazing happy mail thanks to some equally amazing publishers and authors who've blessed me & my little blog immensely!

*About the Author*

Melody Carlson is the award-winning author of over two hundred books, several of them Christmas novellas from Revell, including her much-loved and bestselling book, The Christmas Bus.

She also writes many teen books, including the Diary of a Teenage Girl series, the TrueColors series, and the Carter House Girls series.

Melody was nominated for a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award in the inspirational market for her books, including the Notes from a Spinning Planet series and Finding Alice, which is in production as a Lifetime Television movie. She and her husband serve on the Young Life adult committee in central Oregon.

*Book Description*

Garrison Brown was looking forward to surprising his grandmother-and his lifeline- with a visit at Thanksgiving. Until the devastating phone call telling him that his beloved Grandmother has passed on. Learning that he's the sole heir is not surprising...learning that he's the new owner of six cats is. With his serious allergies and a whole lot of stipulations, Garrison is having a hard time finding homes for his furry problems. When he meets a pretty girl named Cara, he finds himself wanting to give her things he isn't free to offer. Will he ever get to where his heart is leading? And what about the cat he's growing to love but can't have?

*What I liked*

This was such a sweet story! Garrison was a loving, confused character and I loved his interactions with Ruby and some of the other "people" in the book. The cover was a stunning picture of a Maine Coon and it is sooo pretty as a hard back!!

*What I didn't like*

I missed the romance in this one. I know it was a lot about love and second chances, e.t.c but I did miss this. Fortunately, we have plenty of romance in Melody's other books to tide us over so we can add this one to our shelves!

*My Rating*

I give The Christmas Cat...

4 stars!!

*My overall opinion*

The Christmas Cat by Melody Carlson is a sweet Novella that would appeal greatly to cat lovers as well as Melody Carlson fans!! While there is not a whole lot of romance in this book, it's still a sweet, short little love story worthy of Melody's name on the cover!

Trading Secrets By Melody Carlson

Hi everyone!! Today's book for you is actually one of my sisters favorite authors...Melody Carlson! This book was cool. It was a story line I'd heard of before but she put a twist on it that made it hers.

                                      *About The Author*
My husband Chris and I live in a cabin-style home next to the National Forest in the beautiful Cascade Mountain area of the Pacific Northwest. Our two grown sons and granddaughter live nearby and we try to see them as often as we can. We also have two re-homed  pets to make life more interesting, our yellow Labrador retriever Audrey and a Maine coon cat named Harry.

My writing studio is in a separate building next to our courtyard (a garden area that's off limits to the voracious deer). The window behind my desk looks out into the ponderosa pine forest, where I see deer, squirrels, rabbits, and an occasional raccoon. The other windows in my office overlook the courtyard which is frequented by numerous hummingbirds in the summertime, one August evening we counted nearly fifty of the little hummers.

                                                                  *Book Description*
Ever since she started writing her pen pal Micah Knight knew she wanted to meet him in person. Now that the opportunity has risen though, she feels a little sick...not with Zach Miller but with herself...more seriously, her secret. Not that it would be a secret for long if they were to meet face to face. Zach thinks Micah is a boy, when she is, in fact, a girl. Torn between a desperate want to meet the boy that's captured her heart without her even knowing it, and keeping her identity a secret to save their friendship, what will she decide? And when she decides to go all in and meet him, what will Zach think of her?

Zach can't wait to meet Micah...well he can wait now that he's found out her secret. He's a...HER! After all the secrets, ideas, and dreams he's shared with her he's mortified that he thought of her as his best friend. Now after all the lies, he can hardly look at her let alone speak. Will he ever learn to forgive and forget or is the embarrassment and hurt too real?

When an every day occurrence in the farm life just may be the second chance Micah needs, will they find more then they ever expected?

                                                           *What I liked*
Okay, here's my opinion. Awesome! This is a young adult's book. Not that you could REALLY tell. I mean, if you turned these characters into adults and marketed it as such I think it could definitely sell as an adult book. The characters are young and cute and the story line will definitely hold even my 12 yr old little sisters attention. (Pretty sure she has a.d.d sometimes. ; ) Plus it's part of a four book series so it's quadruple the awesomeness. :) Still, the books can definitely be read separately and should be read!
                                                                                              *What I didn't like*
Besides some severe irritation with Zach being so unforgiving, as usual it's just me and was definitely essential to the book! Most readers, unless avid readers, won't be as picky as me hopefully...otherwise as stated in other reviews it could be seriously dangerous to your books' health. ;)

                                                                                      *My Rating*
           I give Trading Secrets...

4 stars!

*Why my rating is what it is*

My rating is four stars because this book is while not a "must read", it's still a great book, especially for younger readers. No foul language, sweet characters, and a story on forgiveness and honesty would make this an awesome Christmas gift!

* I recieved this book from Revell, NetGalley and Bookfun.org in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own and I was not compensated in any other way.

                                                                                     Amazon
                                                             ChristianBook
                                                            Barnes & Noble
                                                           Deepershopping
                                                                 Parable

My little sister (12) has decided Melody Carlson is her new favorite Christmas author...you never know. Maybe your daughter, niece, best friend, maybe even you, will decide the same!

Blessings,
Nicki
