Hey Y'all!! Guess what? Patricia Bradley has a new novel out...actually the first I've ever read but NOT my last!!
Ben Logan is surprised, if not shocked, when Tony Somerall, yet another piece of his past, calls and asks for him to do something Ben would never have imagined...protect his sister Leigh. Feeling surprised and somewhat elated and scared to see Leigh again, he's not so surprised when Leigh resists his protection and his company. Will Leigh ever trust anyone again? Ever love him and share the secrets of her past?
Leigh Somerall can't believe Tony is gone...she also can't believe he would ask Ben of all people to "protect" her. Trying desperately to keep her secret from Ben and to keep going for her son, Leigh quickly grows tired and weary. Fighting the past and fearing the future, will she ever let Ben in? And when a series of potentially deadly incidents appear whenever Leigh does, will they even have a chance?
*What I liked*
Patricia Bradley did a great job on the book and it was perfect as a stand alone!! Filled with surprises, horror scenarios, and a few laughs, this was a good book.
*What I didn't like*
Despite a not-so-original story line, this book was still above a 4 star, just missing a 5. For those of you who aren't good with a ton of suspense I wouldn't recommend it but then, I'm sure you would know that from the title already.
*My Rating*
I give A Promise to Protect...
*Why my rating is what it is*
My rating is 4 1/2 because of it being slightly unrealistic, what with Leigh's schooling passing by so quickly even though she was taking care of a child, and also because of the story line. While my rating is 4 1/2, I do wish for Patricia to know this has nothing to do with her writing, it's excellent, but with the amount of books being published in this genre.
*I received this book from Revell publishing in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts were my own and I was not compensated in any other way.
*About The Author*
Grab a cup of coffee and join me in my adventures as a writer.
In 2012, after entering the first chapters from Shadows from the Past in the Touched By Love and Daphne du Maurier contests, it placed first! It also finaled in the Genesis. And on February 1, 2014, Shadows of the Past (renamed) will be released by Revell/Baker Books. The journey continues…
Come along with me as I write about all sorts of things – my writing journey, interviews with other writers, writing tips, developing a website, my faith…I truly believe God has a sense of humor. I asked Him once to teach me about patience, and He gave me a book to write.
I look forward to getting to know you.
