*Summary*

When Deputy Fletcher Holt moved to California from Texas, the last thing he expected to be doing was protecting a stubborn nurse from a sniper on the freeway. When Macy Wynn refuses to leave the scene of an accident and a scared 6 year old little girl, Fletcher isn't sure whether he should be enamored or irritated. Seconds after deciding to leave things be,and arguing with a disgruntled businessman, gunshots are fired putting everyone on the freeway in a frenzy. When Macy is involved in more danger, Fletcher is torn between keeping his distance and protecting the independent beauty with a heart as soft as it is strong. Will they ever find the sniper? Will Macy ever be safe? And does Fletcher have a bigger reason to care?

Macy Wynn can't believe she's finally found her foster sister. She also can't believe how aggravating Deputy Fletcher Holt is when he steps onto the scene of the accident injuring little Annie. When Fletcher possibly saves her life, Macy realizes she needs to drop any bad feelings. Being an ER nurse, Macy has seen just about anything but still, nothing prepares her for the horror and terror of having a sniper on the lose. She's so used to being strong but this scares her...and Fletcher makes her feel safe. Will they be safe? Is she the target of the sniper? Will all her dreams fade to dust?

*I loved*

Two words. Candace. Calvert. I loved Fletcher Holt when he was in another book of Candace's, Life Support, and knew Candace needed a story featuring him! When I saw this available on Tyndale, I freaked out!! The characters were amazing, cover incredible, and I loved the story line! It was a perfect mix with kick boxing Macy and tender hearted Fletcher. ER workers or even just hospital workers in general will love this amazing story!!

*Not my favorite*

I love books where there's really nothing that I don't like about it. Everything was really just...perfect. The characters, everything. Candace knows how to invoke passion and sweetness without becoming edgy, so this isn't possible either.

I give By Your Side...

5 stars!!

*My overall thoughts*

By Your Side by Candace Calvert is a mysterious story on love, family, and hope with twists and turns that make you catch your breath and still has plenty of feistyness and sweetness to make the perfect story!

*About the Author*

Former ER nurse, wife, Mom and proud grandmother, Candace Calvert believes that love, laughter, and faith are the best medicines. Her popular medical fiction offers charismatic characters, pulse-pounding drama, romance, humor, suspense--and a prescription for hope. Think, “Grey’s Anatomy finds its soul.” She is . . .
A Northern California native who spent several years in Hill Country Texas--where she learned to check her shoes for scorpions and plucked an armadillo from her swimming pool. Thinks cruising is the best way to travel: honeymooned in Venice, swam with stingrays, rode a camel at the pyramids, and sang (badly) with a Newfoundland country band. She’s passionate about cooking, loves bird watching, gardening, and gets goose bumps when her handsome husband hits the low notes at karaoke.  She writes inspirational fiction because . . .
God blessed her with a quirky wit, buoyant optimism, and a contagious sense of fun--but she didn’t come to know him until after the Triple Whammy that turned her life into a bad country song. A painful and unexpected divorce, the Northern California floods of 1997, and (just when she was coping like a champ, no problem) an equestrian accident that left her with fractured ribs, a bleeding lung, broken back, neck fractures and a spinal cord injury. She’ll tell you that God took drastic measures to get her attention.
In the months of rehabilitation, Candace healed in body and spirit. And came to fully understand the difference between being a strong woman and a woman of strength. The difference is faith, and that lesson has been her biggest blessing. Her story, “By Accident,” appears in Chicken Soup for the Nurse’s Soul, and launched her writing career. Now . . .
She is honored to bring readers medical fiction that offers exciting entertainment and a healthy dose of hope.
