Litfuse Review-The Curiosity Keeper by Sarah E. Ladd

Hey everyone!! We are on the way to the lake tomorrow so I am reviewing, reviewing, reviewing in preparation!! This next one is one I know you all will enjoy...The Curiosity Keeper!!

“It is not just a ruby, as you say. It is large as a quail’s egg, still untouched and unpolished. And it is rumored to either bless or curse whoever possesses it.”
Camille Iverness can take care of herself. She’s done so since the day her mother abandoned the family and left Camille to run their shabby curiosity shop. But when a violent betrayal leaves her injured with no place to hide, Camille must allow a mysterious stranger to come to her aid.
Jonathan Gilchrist never wanted to inherit Kettering Hall. As a second son, he was content to work as the village apothecary. But when his brother’s death made him heir just as his father’s foolish decisions put the estate at risk, only the sale of a priceless possession—a ruby called the Bevoy—can save the family from ruin. But the gem has disappeared. And all trails lead to Iverness Curiosity Shop—and the beautiful shop girl who may be the answer to his many questions.
Caught at the intersection of blessings and curses, greed and deceit, these two determined souls must unite to protect what they hold dear. But when a passion that shines far brighter than any gem is ignited, they will have to decide how much they are willing to risk for their future, love, and happiness.

            *My Thoughts*

This is my first book by Sarah Ladd. I enjoyed it but I must say regency romances are not my absolute favorite and that's what I felt this was. The general story line was wonderful but I did feel that it lacked depth. Throughout the story, I expected something to happen to mature the relationships in the book but for the most part, that didn't happen.

That being said, I did still enjoy this book. I felt the characters were fairly well developed. The father irritated me unbelievably in the beginning but his relationship with people did improve and it was my very favorite development in the book. The setting was also well depicted, so I was happy to get to know London as well!

Though the book lacked depth, I did not find Sarah's writing lacking in the least. I wish I had her story telling skills!

A fairly simplistic book, the mystery in this regency, was actually quite shocking. If you add in the switched roles you will find between the main protagonist, you'll find a very different story!

I was very pleased to have been offered this book and will be reading more of Sarah's work, despite my four star rating.           _______________________________________
