Revell Review- Thin Ice by Irene Hannon

Hey guys!! It's been a fairly good day for a Monday but it is seeming to draaaaaaag. On and on and on. I'm telling you guys, the struggle is real. Fortunately, my sleep is starting to return to normalcy after being awake all night reading this suspense thriller from Irene Hannon the other night. Yikes! You mystery lovers do NOT want to miss this!

                *Summary*

After losing her parents in a car accident and her sister to a house fire, Christy Reed has been mired in grief. Life is finally starting to feel normal again when an envelope arrives in the mail--addressed in her sister's handwriting. And the note inside claims she is still alive.

FBI Special Agent Lance McGregor, a former Delta Force operator, is assigned to reopen the case, but he's coming up with more questions than answers. If Ginny Reed is still alive--who is the woman buried in her grave? Where is Ginny? And is Christy a pawn in a twisted cat-and-mouse game--or the target of a sinister plot? As he digs deeper, one thing becomes clear: whoever is behind the bizarre ruse has a deadly agenda.

Bestselling author and two-time Christy Award finalist Irene Hannon warms readers' hearts as they root for a romance between Lance and Christy, but she pulls out all the stops as this high-stakes thriller chills to the bone in a race to the finish.

                   *My Thoughts*

I don't know why I can watch thriller shows like NCIS and not freak out about it but whenever I read a suspense novel, I find myself looking over my shoulder for days. Days, guys. It's seriously ridiculous. Which is why I have no idea why I continue to read and review them, but I do. Especially when it comes to Irene Hannon.

When I requested Buried Secrets, the first book in this series, I decided I would request no more suspense novels. Then I read the book. And I almost cried when I realized that the next book was not set to come out for another 9 months. Nine excruciatingly long months later, here we are!

I fell in love with the characters in the first book and when I saw Mac's brother was the main male protagonist in this book, I HAD to read it. Honestly, if I was unable to review this, I would have bought it myself. Thankfully, I was able to review it and I was not disappointed!

The story line was heartbreaking and emotionally engaging and realistic enough to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. I was so excited to read something that didn't follow the story of every other mystery/suspense novel I had read. Irene managed to keep me engaged enough to read the whole book in one sitting!

I'm pretty sure both Christy and Lance made it to my heroine and heros of the year list. Lance was such a gentleman and very sweet but everyone has their own demons and I love how Irene presented them to us without shoving them between chapters. Christy and Lance were able to help each other face their fears and to learn to trust God in every circumstance. Their attraction and growing interest in each other was palpable but the case had to be their focus.

One reason I think that suspense books are 'scarier' then the tv shows is the killers point of view. In at least most of the suspense novels I've read, you get little tastes of what is going on, who's guilty, and why they are how they are. It's terrifying and invigorating at the same time and Irene pulls it off every. Single. Time. Congrats, Irene, you will have me looking over my shoulder for weeks this time!

I can say with 100% certainty, I will be counting down the days until book 3 comes out!

This is the best suspense I've ever read and I cannot wait for her next! Fantastic writing, heart breaking story line, and engaging characters are just part of it's mysterious charm!
