Revel Review- Starfish Pier by Irene Hannon

Happy Thursday friends!! (It is Thursday, right?) I can’t believe it’s the last day of April. How is that possible?! It’s weird...it seems that even though we’re home all the time, the days still fly by. I will happily rejoice for the day I can hug my people, but in the meantime, I’m counting my blessings disguised in extra time with my family, time to read, and time to explore all the many things I haven’t had time for. I have been abundantly blessed, not the least of which with an unlimited stories never before explored!

*Summary*

A year ago, ex-Delta Force operator Steven Roark left the rigors of combat behind to run fishing charters in Hope Harbor, decompress, and talk some sense into his kid brother. Business is good--but making peace with his past is more challenging than he expected.

First-grade teacher Holly Miller leads a quiet, low-profile existence--until she's recruited to advocate for a cause that's dear to her heart. When she solicits Steven's assistance, sparks fly--especially after they find themselves on opposite sides of an issue that disrupts their placid seaside community.

As these two seemingly incompatible souls search for common ground, might they discover a deeper connection--and find that love can banish darkness and light the way to a future filled with promise?

Bestselling and award-winning author Irene Hannon invites you back to Hope Harbor--where hearts heal . . . and love blooms.

                          *My Thoughts*
Like coming home and being enveloped in a warm hug or sitting in a front porch rocking chair sipping ice cold lemonade on a hot day, book #6 in Hannon’s Hope Harbor series invokes all the warm feelings of a perfect day.

In short, less flowery words, I loved this book. Absolutely adored it. There were so many unexpected layers and nuances in this story, I don’t know how Irene pulled it off, but she did and expertly so!

Five different point of views showed up through the 352 short pages of Starfish Pier. Each one with their own personalities and stories, none less intriguing than the last. Many stories with multiple povs are confusing and hard to follow, but this story was woven together without a single loose end.

There were no games played in the writing of this story, I can assure you. Addictions, life and death issues, war, health concerns...they all played major roles in between strolls down the pier to Charley’s tacos and talks with bantering priests and squawking pelican pairs. I closed the cover on this one with a sigh of pleasure, contentment, and a measure of sadness as I realized it was over.

By far my favorite Hannon novel I’ve read to date, I now realized I skipped a few Hope Harbor novels...rest assured they will be in my bookcase by summertime. Hope Harbor is not a series to be missed!
