Guys. I.am.SO.excited!! I just read a tweet from Mary Connealy pointing readers towards a giveaway for a free copy of her new book "Tried and True"!!! That of course prompted me to re-read the only book of hers I've had the pleasure of reading "Out of Control" and so I have decided to review it for you. Granted, this is an older book (2011, I know it's ancient ;) but she has some "less then stellar" reviews on Christian book and that is so not cool. With all those "obvious western romance haters" on her book page I decided she needed a boost. :)
Plus she has a great cover:

Told you it was great!!
Description:
Julia Gilliland is completely enthralled with the world of nature around her...especially fossils, so when she comes across a cavern filled with fish fossils she is very intrigued. Well, at least she was intrigued until she can't find her rope and finds herself trapped. Screaming, she is finally rescued by one very handsome cowboy, Rafe Kincaid. Problem is, she's too scared to go back to the dark scowling cave by herself and Rafe stubbornly refuses to go back. Another problem is the small issue that she didn't lose her rope...someone pulled it up to keep her in the cave. The question is this: Who wanted her dead?
Julia doesn't understand how dangerous the cavern is. Rafe knows. He's seen firsthand how that cave can rip people-and families-apart. He promises to go back one more time...that's it. But even as he says no, he knows he would strangely do anything she asks of him. Will he heed to her persistent bugging to go back or will he move on without her altogether? And when Julia and her family are in danger, will he protect them or get trapped in their mess with them?
Why I liked it:
Out of Control is a western thriller written by the very author who practically puts western romance IN the Western Romance genre. It's filled with suspense, twists and turns, love, family, and of course horses, guns, and all out fun! It is basically never boring and really keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you're looking for a "can't put it down western suspense thriller" this is your book. Worth the money in my "Book"!
What didn't I like:
There honestly isn't much about this book I didn't like. The only thing that stuck out to me is that Julia and Rafe never really understood--until the end--that physical attraction is lust...not love. The only other thing that I don't have a problem with that other teens may, is the horror of the ending. It never really says suspense for this novel but it is...and the ending is pretty rough for say, a 12-13 year old.

My Rating:
I give Out of Control....
4 stars out of five for teen approved, up all night reading, suspense, and just all out romance and fun.
Why my rating is what it is:
I love Out of Control but the ending is just too rough for teens...which is why I give it 4 stars.
"Out of Control" by Mary Connealy is available for FREE at ChristianBook now!!
