*My Thoughts*
Sometimes I get excited about a book becoming available. And then there are other times. Times when I am in complete shock...this was one of those times!
Why? I JUST got the first book in this series as a freebie, loved it, and the end. I didn't look at the publication date but assumed it was an older book like 2011 or such so I thought all the books were out. Then later the DAY I finished it, I got the Revell email with this being the top book. What?!?! That almost never happens. Then, as it turns out, I also read her book "Making Waves" as a freebie a few years ago and loved that one too. Awesome!
Honestly though, I would have picked it anyways because it has such an inviting cover! It's bright and cheery and the blurb just adds to the madness. I needed this book before I saw the author. It has FLOWERS on the cover!!!!! Some of you may know, I hope to be a horticulturist or something to that idea so this hit the mark for me. Stubborn with a love of flowers and blonde hair? A girl after my own heart!
Tessa!! I LOVED Tessa in the first book when she was only a girl of 14 and absolutely nothing changed except that I now love her MORE! Her charming stubborn streak and can-do attitude had me cheering for her immediately. Then enter Reese. Could we just pause for a minute and admire his name? Please? It makes ME melt just comparing him to a Reeses in my mind. He was so amazing! I love that he genuinely wanted to help Tessa but at the same time struggled with the issue of integrity. If he was some snobbish gardener that just liked how Tessa looked, I would have been mad. But no. Lorna pruned Reese to perfection, even with all the ragged edges that made him the perfect subject of God's love and grace. Which, is subtle yet shown throughout the book, shining through the pages. I loved that about it. Can you really ask for anything more?
No but she gives it to us. This book is so REAL! Tessa's relationship with her siblings reminds me of MY relationship with my little sis and I love that! Lorna doesn't play in the perfect sibling that comes over to help pick out a dress for a dance. She perfectly portrays the bossiness, protectiveness, dare devil stubbornness...all of it. Which earns it it's last star.

*My overall thoughts*
As Love Blooms by Lorna Seilstad is an awesome historical "romance" with oh so much more! This book is as real as it gets with struggles, triumphs, heartaches, jealousies...you name it but through it all the Gregory sisters stick together. A must read!
