Revell Review-The Key to Love by Betsy St. Amant

How sweet it is to have a good book to curl up with. Five weeks into our school year and I can't say enough good things about the welcome breath of fresh air this story provided. My only "complaint" is that it took so long to get in our hands!

 *Summary*

The only thing Bri Duval loves more than baking petit fours is romance. So much so, she's created her own version of the famous Parisian lovelock wall at her bakery in Story, Kansas. She never expects it to go viral--or for Trek Magazine to send travel writer Gerard Fortier to feature the bakery. He's definitely handsome, but Bri has been holding out for a love story like the one her parents had, and that certainly will not include the love-scorned-and-therefore-love-scorning Gerard.

Just when it seems Bri's bakery is poised for unprecedented success, a series of events threaten not just her business but the pedestal she's kept her parents on all these years. Maybe Gerard is right about romance. Or maybe Bri's recipe just needs to be tweaked.

Novelist Betsy St. Amant invites you to experience this sweet story of how love doesn't always look the way we expect--and maybe that's a good thing.

 *My Thoughts*
Oh, the magic of a good story...especially when coffee and macaroons are involved!

Let me premise this review by making you aware that this may be my absolute favorite story of the year thus far. Definitely my favorite of Betsy’s books (although how does one make that kind of decision?!). There was just so much to love!

The depth in each of the characters amazed me. I was able to closely connect with Bri and her desire to live big and see the world, but wanting to hold tight to the comforts and sweet familiarity of home.  On the flip side, it was also easy to understand Gerard’s need to keep moving, to keep jumping from place to place in order to keep his heart safe. Neither knew what they were getting themselves into from the start and it was so fun to watch the story unfold!

Honestly, though I adored the main characters, the supporting characters that are so important to the structure of a good story...absolutely wonderful! I so enjoyed the banter between Bri’s two “aunts” and it was absolutely “true to life believable” in the best of ways.

Sweet and romantically wonderful in all the best ways, curl up with this one only after you’ve gotten everything else done...or else just shove the laundry aside all together and dive in!
