Freestyle Review-Robin's Reward by June McCrary Jacobs

Morning everyone!! Today is my daddy's birthday so I won't stay long but I do have to share Robin's new book with you!! She contacted me about reviewing Robin's Reward about a month ago and I'm so very glad I did...I love hosting new authors!

*Summary*

Bonita Creek’s librarian Robin Bennett is heartbroken after being abandoned by her husband, Thomas. The mysterious and handsome Jeff Clarke arrives unexpectedly and touches Robin’s life with his wit and warmth. Then, without warning, Jeff’s harsh words and abrasive actions scare her off, and Robin’s hope of finding true love withers again. Just when it seems Robin and Jeff might have a future, Susan Stinson, whose cruel taunting has plagued Robin since they met as young teens, decides Jeff should be hers, not Robin’s. Susan’s anger and jealousy escalate dangerously. Her vindictiveness threatens the foundation of Jeff and Robin’s young relationship. Robin’s journey through the peaks and valleys of her life meanders along the twists and turns of new challenges. Is a relationship which began with both parties harboring secrets destined to survive? Can they move past their troubles and the obstacles in their path to find love and happiness together? When their pasts rear their ugly heads, Jeff and Robin must use their faith to remain strong and true. But will it be enough for them to embrace a life of love, trials, and blessings . . . together?

*My Thoughts*

This was such a cool,,refreshing read!! I can honestly say, this book relaxed me. Was it a book I was DYING to read  the end of? No. However, when I had a problem and my reviewers pdf wouldn't let me read further, I freaked out and wrote June right away. RIGHT away. Thankfully, the issue was fixed in less then 40 minutes and I was back on track!

This was a sweet story! I love gardening so I connected with Robin. I loved the simple writing, easy conversations that June used. A perfect front porch read! The cover is stunning...as I previously mentioned, I have a love for flowers and this cover is perfect! For me and the book.

I found the characters to be sweet though a little underdeveloped. I really liked Robin and understood her insecurities but at the same time, sometimes her and Jeff frustrated me.

That she fought with a hydrangea bush at one point in the story had me giggling. While she struggled to move hers, we struggle to get ours to bloom (Just looks like a giant head of lettuce!)so I was able to connect in that way.

*My overall thoughts*

All in all, Robin's Reward by June McCrary Jacobs is a sweet, simple story, perfect for a front porch or backyard flower garden read. Filled with romance, humor, and of course flowers, give this one a try!

  1. That is a lovely cover. I'm so glad some people are good at gardening. A plant has to be really hardy to survive at my house. :) There's something so peaceful about sitting out in a garden, though. I usually take a week off work at the end of May--right when the honeysuckles are coming out. It's the best. Perfect time to sit outside and dream of novels. ;) Sounds like there were some fun moments in this story. Thanks for sharing your feedback on it.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Crystal, and for leaving your thoughts!! I LOVE honeysuckle...we had a large plant of it going over an arbor in NY before we moved and it was a favorite. :) There were definitely some fun moments, hope you get to read it!
